Post Vietnam When a nation loses a war And reality begins to thaw The realisation sinks in Your not the image you once saw Masculinity takes over The troubled mind of the sober The need to prove To heal and soothe Budweiser and tattoos And cinemas with warped views History to be re writ So the nation can handle it But if your not a winner Does it make you a sinner Do you need a win Before belief sets in I have always found it amusing how as a nation America whom I love so much struggles to come to terms even now with the defeat they undoubtedly suffered in Vietnam. Also post war, how American men somehow sought constantly to prove they were/are real men if there can be such a thing.
